Fantail

New Zealand’s native Pīwakawaka or Fantail has inspired Boh Runga jewellery from the very beginning. First as a stylised, chubby native bird in the 2007 collection Birdland, then taking the form of the bird’s impressive fanning tail in The Messenger Stories.   In Māori mythology, the cheeky little bird was one of the great Maui companions and one he would often take the form of. Fantails are fascinating to watch as they dart and play while looking for insects. Curious and comical, they make us smile.
