Behind the Scenes: Kathryn Wilson x Boh Runga

Behind the Scenes: Kathryn Wilson x Boh Runga

Launching new jewellery is always an exciting time at Boh Runga Design HQ. After tweaking the designs, the fun really begins when we start thinking about the campaign photoshoot.

Launching new jewellery is always an exciting time at Boh Runga Design HQ. After tweaking the designs, the fun really begins when we start thinking about the campaign photoshoot.

The release of ‘Lola’, our most recent Bohlab with shoe designer and long-time friend of Boh’s, Kathryn Wilson, was one of our cutest shoots to date.

A single Lola Heel, one of Kathryn's best-sellers named after her eldest daughter, hangs cheekily off a diamond cut chain finished with a gold dipped toe. You can personalise the piece by adding an engraved Sweetheart charm, originally from our Small But Perfectly Formed collection.

Boh and Kathryn released the pendant as a celebration of friendship and femininity on International Women’s Day, so the scene was set for Kathryn’s kind and playful nature to shine through.

After sourcing Barbie shoes from across NZ, spray painting them pink in between rain showers (thank you, Auckland weather) we headed to the studio where our design team brought our ideas to life.

The bright colours and mixing of scale for a sense of surrealism all came together with a doll house feel within the miniature set we created. By the end of shoot day our hand cut confetti was everywhere but we had our shots!

The best thing about working with other respected designers in our Bohlab series is seeing how their aesthetic plays out and the two brands complement each other.

Now to plan for the next one…
