Symbols of Aotearoa

Treat yourself or someone else with a small but perfectly formed symbol of the place that we call home.  Hei Tiki: Its origins steeped in mystery, Hei Tiki is recognisable as an intrinsic part of Māori culture. It has been adopted by New Zealanders and visitors to Aotearoa alike and is always worn with pride. Southern Cross: Used by ancient mariners to navigate the Southern Seas, the Southern Cross constellation (Māhutonga) was thought by Māori to be the anchor for a great sky canoe (waka). Kina: Also known as sea egg, this familiar icon of the Pacific houses a delicacy prized by Māori and Pacifika peoples alike. The beautiful shape of Kina with its bounty of the sea reminds us of the amazing resource our oceans are.
